4 February 2005: Consumer advice centres file caution against DFB

The data protection policies in the sales of tickets to the World Cup matches have now brought the German Federal Association of Consumer Advice Centres on the scene. The order form for the tickets gives the impression that fans were obliged to give their consent to sharing of their data for advertising purposes to have their application processed at all.

“It is preposterous that DFB and FIFA will hand out the tickets only if one exposes sensitive data of oneself and others. The fans should not submit themselves to this,” says Rena Tangens.

The German "Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI)" (Federal Office for Security in Information Technology) has published a study.

6 November 2004: New study on protection of privacy against RFID online

October 27: Metro's RFID test spreads out of Future Store
Metro has announced utilisation of RFID chips in the supply chains of selected storehouses and shops starting in early November.
